Influencer Relationships

When an influencer started posting her Dog Day Getaways with Michigan Humane dogs, I saw it as an opportunity to cultivate a relationship. After some parasocial relationship-building, we asked her for help promoting an event. I brought an adoptable dog to the event space the week before and helped her with content creation for the multiple posts to her more than 500,000 followers.

Macomb Township

I had no predecessor at Macomb Township; it was a brand-new position for the township. This meant building the social media accounts almost from the ground up. There were around 900 followers on Facebook when I came on board. A mix of essential information, high-quality photography, and creative videos grew the page by more than 288 percent. When I left, there were just over 3,500 followers.

Fire Department

The township fire department page was in a similar situation to the main page; it was neglected. For this page, I leaned into the community's patriotism, the individual firefighters' passions, and the heroic work they do. This saw a roughly 190 percent increase on the page.

UpNorthLive

Fresh out of college, I started at UpNorthLive, the NBC station in Traverse City. Using the fast-moving content of an active news department, we provided constantly updated information that was vital to the community. This was a mix of user-generated content showcasing the area's natural beauty, raw video from news events, edited videos, and article links to consistently keep the station at #1 in the market.
